CRIJ 4325 Terrorism and Counter Terrorism

The course on Terrorism and Counter Terrorism brings to light a contemporary dimension to study the problem of terrorism both internationally and domestically.  The course examines both physical and cyber terrorism.  It separates hate crime from acts of terrorism and continues with a look at Islamic extremism. The it tries to decipher the perceptions of Islamic extremist of reasons for engaging in Terrorism.  The course explores measures put in place by the Department of Homeland Security to counter terrorism by examining specific cases.  The course closes by bringing students to the understanding the functioning of the United States national Security and role of the Transportation Security Administration on crisis prevention.
