CRIJ 4307 Crime Scene Analysis and Reconstruction

This course provides students with the fundamental knowledge of evidence and pattern based crime scene analysis and reconstruction.  The course is based on three principal concepts to outline how to analyze and accurately reconstruct a crime scene to determine the events that surround the crime:  the use of scientific methods, the application of physical evidence, and the use of deductive reasoning.  The course places emphasis on using criminological theories to investigate both traditional and contemporary crime.  Areas of study will include:  equipment and supplies, use of photographs, videos and drawings, finger prints, pattern evidence, and soft evidence.  Students are expected to know how to collect and preserve evidence and they should come out with knowledge on how to preserve and present collected evidence.
