CRIJ 4303 Homeland Security Intelligence and Alert

This course aims to provide Criminal Justice students with knowledge on how the Department of Homeland Security collects intelligence and how it relays collected data to concerned agencies.  The course focuses on warning signs and how they are handled.  It involves an in-depth look at the way the secret service, FBI, and the entire intelligence community operate.  The course outlines the relationship between the intelligence community, Department of Homeland Security, and state, local, and tribal leaders.  It allows students to have an inside look at how the State Department uses its influence and work with international partners to gather intelligence information and how this information is shared among allied countries like Britain, France, and Germany, etc.  It concludes by examining the importance of the intelligence community to the safety of the homeland and examination of particular cases.
